Artists for Social Justice present “Arts in Conversation: Artists on the Move”
The HUB, Honolulu, HI
A newly-formed community arts group, Artists for Social Justice, present an evening of performances centered on the theme of climate change. A daunting social, economic and environmental phenomenon that communities around the world are already grappling with. As creators, moderators, and curators of human culture, artists of various mediums have been using their expressive power to draw attention to this pressing social issue in different ways.
Some celebrate the beauty and power of nature that is slipping away, some warn of our own human fragility in the face of environmental disruption, others describe the existing destruction and its human and non-human effects, while yet others seek to translate real climate data into artistic expressions in order to communicate the severity of the situation. In this program, music, poetry, visual art, dance, projections and speaking come together to highlight the very real consequences and effects of climate change with the aim of prompting action within our own community
