In-house Legal Counsel
UHA Health Insurance
Terri O’Connell is in-house legal counsel for UHA Health Insurance. Before working at UHA, Ms. O’Connell was Counsel at Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, an Associate General Counsel at UnitedHealthcare, and a property and casualty insurance defense litigation Associate for a boutique law firm. Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. O’Connell worked for other health insurers such as Aetna, Health Net, and HMSA.
State of Hawaii Insurance Division
Gordon I. Ito is the State Insurance Commissioner from the Insurance Division of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Commissioner Ito is the Secretary-Treasurer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). He also chaired the NAIC’s Western Zone, the Information Systems Task Force and the International Regulatory Cooperation Working Group. Prior to his appointment as State Insurance Commissioner, he served as chief deputy insurance commissioner and as supervising staff attorney of the Insurance Division. Commissioner Ito earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii and a law degree from the University of Hawaii William S. Richardson School of Law.
Dr. Kathleen Kozak
Straub Clinic and Hospital
Dr. Kathleen Kozak is a board certified internist at Straub Clinic and Hospital since 1999, and the current Vice Chief of Staff. Dr. Kozak is also the host of The Body Show on Hawaii Public Radio and a medical columnist for Civil Beat. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania and did her residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is also a medical director at UHA insurance since November 2016.
